Description

ATF-2 (activating transcription factor-2, CRE-BP1) is a transcription factor that binds the cAMP response element (CRE) and AP-1 response element and is abundantly expressed in the brain. Various forms of cellular stress, including genotoxic agents, inflammatory cytokines, and UV irradiation, stimulate the transcriptional activity of ATF-2 (2). SAPK and p38 MAPK can activate, in response to cellular stress, ATF-2 by phosphorylating this protein at Thr69 and Thr71. Mutations of these sites result in the loss of stress-induced transcription by ATF-2 (2-4).

Recommended Applications

WB, ICC, IP

Applications and Recommended Dilution Factors

WB: 1:1,000 - 10,000
ICC: 1:100
IP: 1:40

Species Reactivity *

Human

*Cross reactivity determined by western blot only.

Products Data

A. Western blot analysis on HeLa cell lysate using anti-Phospho-ATF-2 (pT71) RabMAb (cat. #1268-1); dilution 1:10,000. Cells were (1) untreated, and (2) treated with Anisomycin.B. Immunofluorescent staining of HeLa cells using anti-Phospho-ATF-2 (pT71) RabMAb (cat. #1268-1).

Specificity

A synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Thr71 of human ATF-2 was used as immunogen. The antibody only detects ATF-2 phosphorylated on Threonine 71

Storage Condition and Buffer

Store at -20 °C. Buffer: Antibody buffer, sodium azide, glycerol, and BSA. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.
