Description

OLIG1 is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor, critically involved in mammalian oligodendrocyte formation (1). It may function as a transcriptional regulator for myelin-specific gene expression such as myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG), myelin basic protein (MBP) and myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG). OLIG1 might be required for remyelination in the adult brain and spinal cord (2). Furthermore, it cooperates with OLIG2 to establish the pMN domain of the embryonic neural tube (3).

Specificity

A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in human OLIG1 was used as an immunogen.

Storage Condition and Buffer

Store at -20 °C. Buffer: Antibody buffer, sodium azide, glycerol, and BSA. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.
