Over 120 Epitomics' Rabbit Monoclonal Antibodies included in the new release of Human Protein Atlas 2.0

Long Beach, CA. USA. - Swedish Human Proteome Resource (HPR) (led by Mathias Uhlen, a head of HUPO Antibody Initiative) released Human Protein Atlas 2.0 today at the HUPO 2006 Congress meeting.

The human protein atlas displays expression and localization of proteins in a large variety of normal human tissues and cancer cells. The data is publicly available and presented as high resolution immunohistochemistry (IHC) images of tissues and cell lines.

The new 2.0 version includes -

  • 1500 antibodies (with over 120 RabMAbsTM from Epitomics, Inc.) corresponding to more than 1.2 million annotated IHC images.
  • Cell profiles have been added to complement the tissue profiles. The new profiles consist of 47 cell lines and 12 primary cells that have been stained with HPA antibodies and evaluated using automated image analysis. The results are presented at the bottom of the expression profile-page for almost every antibody.

"Epitomics has provided HPR with over 300 RabMAbs so far," said Dr. Peter Li, Vice President of Life Sciences of Epitomics. "These antibodies were not specifically prescreened as being IHC positive and of the antibodies the HPA group have completed their testing on so far, Epitomics RabMAbs have achieved a greater than a 70% success rate as determined as being IHC positive according to their criteria. This is a very high positive rate in comparison to other antibodies that they have tested".

About RabMab

RabMab technology is used for the discovery and development of monoclonal antibodies to treat cancer and other diseases. Compared to currently available MAb technology on the market, such as mouse hybridomas, Epitomics' technology can generate RabMAbs more efficiently and can offer RabMAbs with superior binding affinity and bioactivity in a wide variety of biological assays. The high throughput and robust nature of the technology allows for the simultaneous discovery of disease targets and potential therapeutic antibodies in the same experiments, significantly shortening the drug discovery and development cycle.
