We offer reagents, diagnostics, and contract research to leading scientific researchers. Clients include major biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies and academic research laboratories.

Biotechnologist and entrepreneur Dr. Guo-Liang Yu has more than 12 years of experience in genomics and 24 years of experience in life sciences research. Before cofounding Epitomics, Dr. Yu was Senior Vice-President of Research and Development at Mendel Biotechnology Inc. While there, Dr. Yu established a robust functional genomics program, exceeded all six milestones for the Research Agreement with Monsanto and Savia, all while managing more than 60 Ph.D. scientists and research associates.

At Human Genome Sciences, Inc., a prominent genomics company, Dr. Yu helped to establish the high-throughput gene discovery program. He also led the technology development group and cancer group. He identified and characterized numerous genes for therapeutic protein and drug discovery.

Dr. Yu was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Harvard Medical School. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Fudan University, Shanghai, China. Dr. Yu also founded the Chinese Biopharmaceutical Association headquartered in Washington DC. He is coinventor and coauthor of more than 100 patents and scientific articles.

Peter Li joined Epitomics as Vice-President of Life Sciences in December 2003. Dr. Li brings broad experience as a venture capitalist and a biotechnology industrial insider. As Vice President at Kenson Ventures, LLC., Dr. Li consulted for biotech startups on business strategies, operations, marketing, and business development. He has served as a member of board of directors, as an observer to the board, or as a business advisor for many biotech companies.

Prior to Kenson Ventures, Dr. Li worked in biotechnology corporate finance at investment bank RBC Capital Markets. Dr. Li was also the head of Peptide Antibody Development at Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Inc. Prior to that Dr. Li was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Li also earned his M.B.A. from University of California, Berkeley. He received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Ohio State University, where he was a University Presidential Fellow, and his B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China.

Before cofounding Epitomics, Weimin Zhu served as a research scientist at Bayer Corporation. At Bayer he developed a series of high-throughput assays for anti-cancer drug screens. He also contributed to the discovery of several drug candidates.

Prior to Bayer, Mr. Zhu was a senior associate specialist at University of California San Francisco where he pioneered rabbit monoclonal antibody technology (created new rabbit fusion partner 240E-W) and established the high-throughput system for rabbit hybridoma generation that is the core technology of Epitomics, Inc. Using this technology, he led his team to develop many high-quality rabbit MAbs and identifying cancer-specific molecules.

Mr. Zhu received his M.S. in Cell Biology at Xiamen University, China. Mr. Zhu was a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Pathology of Zhejiang Medical University where he began his monoclonal antibody study. Mr. Zhu was a visiting scientist at the Institute of Pharmacological Sciences of Milan, Italy, and subsequently at the Gladstone Cardiovascular Disease Institute at UCSF. Mr. Zhu is the author of more than 20 scientific publications and coinventor of several patents.

Laurie Gee joined Epitomics in November 2006 as Vice President of Finance. Ms. Gee has more than 19 years of experience in financial management in large and small companies. Prior to joining Epitomics, from 2000 to 2005 she was Director of Finance and Business Affairs of Metreon, a Sony Entertainment Center. She was instrumental in developing that company's financial infrastructure and made numerous contributions to its commercial growth. The team she built for the newly built Sony facility strived to make the company reach its financial goals.

From 1998 to 2000 Ms. Gee was Vice President of Finance and Administration of Castelle Inc. She was also CFO and Controller for Kidsoft Inc., Director of Finance for Elonex Technologies, and was Assistant Controller for The North Face Inc. She started her career at Arthur Andersen as a Certified Public Accountant in the Business Advisory practice. Ms. Gee holds a B.S. Accounting degree from San Francisco State University.

Taiying Chen joined Epitomics as Vice President of In Vitro Diagnostics in September 2009. Before joining Epitomics, Dr. Chen was the founding Director of Sakura Bioscience of Sakura Finetek USA. Prior to Sakura Bioscence, Dr. Chen held various senior professional and management positions at Schering-Plough Biopharma, Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. and BioGenex Laboratory Inc. Dr. Chen brings broad experience as a seasoned executive in business strategy and planning, operation, product development, quality system establishment, product manufacturing and commercialization.

Dr. Chen received his Ph.D. in Anatomy/Cell Biology and M.A. in Pathology from the University of Kansas, and medical training from Fujian Medical University, China. Dr. Chen is coauthor and co-inventor of more than forty scientific publications and patents. During his tenure in the industry, Dr. Chen had led successful launches of several high profile IVD immunohistochemical (IHC) products in pathology field.

Bingfang Huan has over 17 years of experience in biotech and diagnostic industries. Before Joining Epitomics in Feb. 2011, Dr. Huan was a sales manager responsible of reagent sales for North America at Molecular Devices, part of Danaher Corporation, where Dr. Huan began as an application scientist and successfully transitioned into sales. Prior to Molecular Devices, Dr. Huan has also worked at BD Biosciences as senior application scientist and Naxcor, a molecular diagnostic company, as senior research scientist. Bingfang graduated from SUNY Buffalo in Buffalo, New York with Ph.D. in molecular biology, and did her postdoctoral training at University of Colorado.
